Code of Conduct

Players

 

  1. Abide with the rules of the Football Association and the respective Leagues with whom the club / Team is registered.
  2. Accept the decision of the referee and the referee’s assistants without question.
  3. Conduct themselves is a way that displays sportsmanship and fair play.
  4. Avoid unacceptable behaviour which includes:
    • abusive language or behaviour,
    • threatening behaviour,
    • violent conduct,
    • provocative, rude or obscene language or gestures,
    • dissension or disagreement with official’s decision.
  5. To ensure that no racist acts / language is used.
  6. To always ensure fair play and good sportsmanship on the field of play.
  7. To support other club teams when / if they are watching them play.
  8. To remember that you represent Storrington Community Football Club in everything you do and say on the football field.

THE CLUB WILL NOT ACCEPT VERBAL OR PHYSICAL BULLYING OF ANY TYPE. PLAYERS WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE CLUB IF THEY ARE FOUND TO BE BULLYING.

 


 

Parent, Guardians and Spectators

 

  1. Behave responsibly at all times (before, during or after a match) and set a good example to the players.
  2. Offer encouragement and support.
  3. Applaud/praise good sportsmanship/effort/performance from all players in all teams and clubs.
  4. You have a responsibility to encourage all players to abide by and understand the rules.
  5. Accept the decision made by the referee and the referee’s assistants without question and never doubt their honesty.
  6. Value the importance of the coaches and match officials who give up their time for the players.
  7. The young people are not playing to satisfy your ambitions and they are involved for their enjoyment, not yours!
  8. Avoid unacceptable behaviour, which includes:-
    • provocative, rude or obscene language or gestures,
    • argue, use sarcasm or become violent,
    • booing or jeering at officials or the opposing team,
    • threatening behaviour,
    • intimidate, embarrass or humiliate any player,
    • dissension or disagreement with officials decisions.
  9. Any queries on selection or coaching methods should be addressed to the manager at the end of a coaching session. Players should be encouraged by parents to discuss any problems with their team manager in the first instance. Any unresolved issues should then be referred to any member of the committee but preferably the Chairman.

SHOULD ANY PLAYER, CLUB OFFICIAL, PARENT/GUARDIAN OR SPECTATOR FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THIS CODE OF CONDUCT THE MATTER WILL BE REFERRED TO THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE.

DISCIPLINARY ACTION WILL BE TAKEN ON ALL OCCASIONS AND COULD RESULT IN A PLAYER, CLUB OFFICIAL, SPECTATORS CHILD (PLAYER) BEING REQUESTED TO LEAVE THE CLUB.

 


 

Coaches, Managers and Team Officials

 

  1. Abide with the rules of the Football Association and the respective leagues with whom the club / team is registered.
  2. Accept the decision of the referee and the referee’s assistants without question.
  3. Conduct themselves is a way that displays sportsmanship and fair play setting a good example for players.
  4. Avoid unacceptable behaviour, which includes:-
    • abusive language or behaviour,
    • threatening behaviour,
    • violent conduct,
    • threatening behaviour
    • provocative, rude or obscene language or gestures,
    • dissension or disagreement with official’s decision.
  5. To ensure all aspects of racism are removed from football.
  6. To coach and encourage the skills & basics of football and the laws of the game.
  7. To always ensure fair play and good sportsmanship including discipline on the field of play.
  8. Managers to be responsible for ensuring that the club does not incur fines due to their own negligence and will pay any resulting fines.
  9. To make everyone, including supporters and players, aware that managers are responsible for the behaviour of everyone representing the club.
  10. To support other club teams when/if they are watching them play.
  11. Team selection — Whilst it is impossible to give directives on how managers should select their teams for friendlies, league & cup matches, the following overriding criteria should be observed:
    • EQUALITY/FAIRNESS
    • ABILITY
    • ATTENDANCE & COMMITMENT AT TRAINING
    • It is also expected that, as children progress through the age groups, selection will be progressively dependent on ability. Ultimately selection is at the manager’s discretion.
  12. To do their best to ensure the youngsters ENJOY their football, allowing their natural competitive instincts to develop.
  13. To provide half time refreshments for the team.
